Man Shot To Death Atop Lookout At San Francisco's Twin Peaks

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- A man fatally shot at a lookout point atop Twin Peaks in San Francisco early Saturday morning has been identified by the medical examiner's office as Luis Venegas.

Venegas, 23, was shot at about 3:20 a.m. in a parking lot at Christmas Tree Point, a vista point that looks out on downtown San Francisco, police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

Venegas, a San Mateo resident, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was with a group of friends at the lookout point, and there was also another group nearby in the parking lot, Andraychak said.

After some sort of verbal dispute between the two groups, at least one suspect in the other group shot at Venegas.

The suspects, described only as two or three white or Hispanic males, fled in a white Honda Odyssey minivan, Andraychak said. No arrests had been made as of late Saturday morning, he said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department's homicide unit at (415) 553-1145 or the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444, or text information to TIP411.
