Body Found Inside San Jose Home Being Fumigated

SAN JOSE (BCN) -- A man was found dead in San Jose Monday afternoon in a temporarily unoccupied house that was being fumigated, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded around 3:20 p.m. Monday to a call of a body in a house in the 200 block of Lanier Lane, Officer Jose Garcia said.

The house was tented and unoccupied because it was being fumigated, Garcia said. Employees from the exterminator company found the body Monday when they returned to check on the house.

The company's representatives said the house was still toxic, and employees were using respirators and oxygen to enter this afternoon, Garcia said.

He said the man who was found dead was not a resident of the home, and it's unclear why he entered the house.

The man might have been homeless or looking to burglarize the residence, Garcia said.

Police are trying to determine when the exterminator company last entered the house so they can figure how long the man might have been there.
