ANSWER: According to John McCosker of the California Academy of Sciences, two men have actually been to the deepest part of the ocean aboard a submersible. On January 23, 1960, Jaques Piccard and Don Walsh descended more than 35,700 feet into the Mariana Trench off the Coast of Guam.
