Man Arrested In San Jose For Pointing Laser At Aircraft

SAN JOSE (BCN) -- A suspect in San Jose was arrested Monday night after allegedly shining a laser at a small airplane and a police helicopter, a police sergeant said.

The plane was about a mile from Reid-Hillview Airport, near Story Road and McLaughlin Avenue, around 6:35 p.m. when it was hit with a green laser beam, Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.

The pilot notified police, who responded with a search helicopter, Dwyer said.

He said the helicopter was then also hit with a green laser beam, and its crew was able to direct incoming police on the ground to where the beam originated.

Police responded to the 1200 block of Pipe Dream Court and arrested one person.

Additional information was not immediately available.
