Firefighter Hurt In Danville Home Fire

DANVILLE (CBS 5 / KCBS / BCN) -- A house fire in Danville Friday morning caused an estimated $750,000 damage to the structure and sent one firefighter to the hospital, a San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District spokeswoman said.

The two-alarm fire was reported at 5:28 a.m. at 923 El Pintado Road, fire spokeswoman Kim French said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire by 6:45 a.m., French said.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for observation. He is expected to make a full recovery, French said.

The two-story, 3,700-square-foot house did not appear to be the primary residence for its owners and nobody was home when the fire started, French said.

The fire was still under investigation late Friday morning and French said it would be a while before an official cause could be determined.

KCBS' Bob Melrose Reports:

The house is near Fountainhead Montessori School, which was not damaged in the blaze, but due to lingering smoke in the area, fire officials decided to close the school for the day, French said.
