Burning Man Contemplates Office Space In San Francisco's Mid-Market

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - You can add Burning Man to a growing list of art and cultural groups that could be part of Mid-Market's revitalization in San Francisco.

KCBS' Barbara Taylor Reports:

Burning Man, the edgy music and cultural group that stages annual pilgrimages to the desert, now runs both a business and nonprofit out of offices in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood.

Now, word comes that the group is considering relocating to Mid-Market, reportedly checking out several properties including the old Warfield building.

Amy Cohen, Mayor Ed Lee's Director of Neighborhood Business Development, has been assisting.

"From our perspective, we would just like to see them come to the area because they would help us accomplish what we're trying to do with a cultural arts district," she explained.

San Francisco officials are also reportedly talking to ACT (American Conservatory Theater) and the Bay Area Theatre Coalition about moving to Mid-Market, a street that is still very troubled but is considered a place that, with some TLC, could undergo a cultural renaissance.
