Neil Young Aims For A Grammy Hat-Trick

(CBS/LAST.FM) - Neil Young's contributions to music continue to be recognized with a hat-trick of nominations at this year's Grammy Awards.

Nominated for the categories Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album – Neil Young could well have his hands full come the end of the awards ceremony.

Last.fm Trends looks at the guitar legend's chances.

Every category sees Neil Young nominated against some true heavyweights of rock music.

Whether it be Paul McCartney (12,081,961 scrobbles) in the Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance category, Kings of Leon (94,139,630 scrobbles) in the Best Rock Song category or Pearl Jam (72,632,794 scrobbles) in the Best Rock Album category, Neil Young certainly has his work cut out for him.

With a total of 31,067,095 scrobbles to his name, Neil Young should feel fairly confident of taking at least one award with him.

Whilst the scrobble count of 30,818 of his double-nominated song "Angry World" may not be particularly high in contrast to his fellow nominees (Muse's "Resistance" in the Best Rock Song category boasts 2,901,934 scrobbles), Neil Young will hope that his veteran status amongst rock's elite will lead him to Grammy gold in some form.

Check back with Last.fm Trends every weekday as we continue to run up to the Grammy Awards, which you can watch live on CBS on February 13th.
