San Rafael Inmate Found Dead In Cell

SAN RAFAEL (BCN) - Novato police have identified the Marin County Jail inmate who was found dead in his cell Monday morning as 45-year-old Daymitreeus Sessoms, of San Rafael.

Sessoms was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m., police Lt. Dave Jeffries said. The charges on which he was booked into jail were not immediately available.

Novato police are investigating Sessoms' death in accordance with a countywide in-custody death protocol.

Marin County sheriff's deputies found Sessoms unresponsive in his cell and began emergency resuscitation, sheriff's Lt. Barry Heying said.

Paramedics from the San Rafael Fire Department responded at noon and pronounced Sessoms dead.

The Sonoma County coroner's office has not released the results of an autopsy that was conducted Tuesday.

Sessoms was a DJ who operated the "I Got Your Music" business for weddings and other events in the Bay Area, according to his Facebook page.
