Tech Watch: Sony's New Music Service

(KCBS) - It's been hard for companies to make a profit with subscription music services, but Sony thinks it's got a big enough brand name to succeed.

CNET Editor-at-Large Brian Cooley explains how subscription music services work saying this allows users to have access to music but not actually own the music.

The big question is will consumers buy it? Sony's sticking their head out a little bit on this one.

iTunes is the largest in the business. But Sony says they have 200 million playstation consoles out there, plus the service will be available on their Android phones.

You can hear his Tech Watch report Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:50 P.M. on KCBS All News 740AM and 106.9FM.
