Concord Woman Accused Of Robbing Bank, Fleeing In Taxi

CONCORD (BCN) -- A woman was arrested after allegedly robbing a Wells Fargo bank in Concord and then trying to flee in a waiting taxicab Friday morning, a police sergeant said.

The robbery was reported at 9:08 a.m. at the bank located at 775 Oak Grove Road, Concord police Sgt. Michael Finney said.

Officers arrived within minutes and were notified that a female suspect had gotten into a taxi that was leaving the area, Finney said.

The cab was stopped and the woman, whose name is not yet being released, was taken into custody without incident, Finney said.

The woman was unarmed, but allegedly gave a bank employee a note demanding cash, according to Finney. All the money taken from the bank was recovered, he said.

The driver of the taxi does not appear to have been knowingly involved in the robbery, Finney said.

No one was injured during the robbery.
