Storms Dump Feet Of Fresh Snow On Tahoe Resorts
LAKE TAHOE (CBS 5 / AP) - The latest in a string of powerful storms dropped heavy snow and caused widespread traffic delays Friday in the Lake Tahoe area.

The Alpine Meadows ski resort just north of Tahoe reported receiving up to 4 feet of snow over a 24-hour period ending Friday morning for a total of as much as 9 feet of snow since the storms began on Monday.
Other Sierra resorts reported 4 to 7 feet of new snow this week.
Tire chains were mandatory except for four-wheel drive vehicles on all three major trans-Sierra highways: Interstate 80 over Donner Summit, U.S. 50 over Echo Summit and Highway 88 over Carson Pass.
A section of the latter highway near Kirkwood was closed due to avalanche-control activities.
