Downed Power Line Causes Fire Near Oakland

OAKLAND (BCN) -- A power line fell down across a road and caught fire near Oakland Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded to reports of a power line coming down near Pinehurst and Redwood roads about 7:25 p.m., CHP Officer Scott Cakebread said.

Arriving crews also found a tree blocking the roadway. The fallen line and tree blocked nearby traffic, but Cakebread couldn't say how many lanes were blocked.

One fire engine was sent to assist clearing the roadway, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

No injuries were reported.
