Narsai David Review From Hong Kong: Lockcha Tea
(KCBS) - KCBS Food and Wine Editor Narsai David is in Hong Kong and amongst the thousands of tea shops there, he claims to have found the perfect one.
Lockcha Tea Shop was founded in 1991. The owner, Wing-Chi Ip, used to process and sell pottery and teapots but managed to get into tiny tea villages to expand his tea.
In those days most of the tea shops were controlled by the government. He started buying from individual estates and created something labeled a single day estate harvest. He has an amazing range of teas - 105 varieties available for taste and purchase. Prices range from $10-40 for a 2.5 oz packet.
The complexity of these teas is fascinating. Some of these are now available from the Corti Brothers.
