PATTERSON, Stanislaus County (AP) — Authorities say they have confirmed that a body pulled from a Central California canal belongs to the suspected kidnapper of a 4-year-old boy.

California Department of Justice officials said Tuesday that investigators matched Jose Esteban Rodriguez’s palm print from his arrest record with the left palm of the body found earlier this month.

The 27-year-old’s body was recovered in the Delta-Mendota Canal on Feb. 12, a week after tests confirmed that another body found in the canal belonged to 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas

Rodriguez allegedly snatched Cardenas from his ex-girlfriend’s mother in Patterson in January.

The kidnapping prompted a massive search after a farmworker reported seeing Rodriguez’s car go into the canal with a man and a boy inside.

What a coward! He didn’t get what he deserved! He deserved much worse! I feel sorry for the Mom, she will have to work hard to get past this tragedy. Was he even a US citizen?

  2. killar says:

That guy will rot in Hell.

  3. RB says:

Why is his citizenship an issue, a criminal is a criminal Citizen or not! Why make it an issue and try to instigate something that is not. You are implying that Citizens are not criminals or murders or kidnappers.. ah… does Dugard/Garrido brings any memories?, let’s keep it at what it was a tragedy!

    1. Mike says:

His legal status is an issue because if we had any semblance of border control this a-hole would never have been in the country to murder this precious little boy. THAT”S WHY, you moron!

    2. Mike says:

Do you really believe Garrido is an American name? Jagoff!

I have friends in the criminal justice system that I talk with on a regular basis. I have seen the statistics that show the huge disparity between illegal citizens who commit crime compared to US citizens. The disparity is even larger when it comes to rape, murder & serious crimes like that. I am of Hispanic decent. My father who was born in Mexico became a citizen by joining the US Military and fought for our freedoms. This includes the freedom of speech and the ability to ask questions. All I did was aak a question. Sorry if that upset you.

  4. OM says:

What a tragedy. May you rest in peace, Juliani.

I agree…why do you assume he is not a citizen? Because he is Hispanic? What a world we live in. Such a terrible tragedy, a child’s life lost and this man who did such a terrible thing. I agree that he did not get what he deserved with what he did, but you know nothing of him other than a mug shot and now you are questioning his citizenship status based on his appearance. What an insult to our country, no wonder we are where we are.

    1. Vinoman says:

Hi OM, sorry you took issue with my question. I actually have done some research into this and have spoken to family members and friends. I was able to find out the he was an anchor baby. I am one of many who believe that the 14th Amendment should be altered. Their are reasons for what is happening in Arizona. I agree whole hardily with why they are doing. I have had quite a few conversations with people who are not from the US legally and who Bilk and manipulate the system for everything they can. I have a brother who has a 19 year old son who can’t find work in the valley. His wife is hispanic. His son doesn’t look it at all though. He has followed up on over 30 of the 82 applications afterward where he was able to find out who was hired. 26 of those 30 were and looked Hispanic. If that statement bothers you, I’m sorry. It’s just the plain truth. He has all the info and is putting together a paper on this for college.

To: Vinoman You Stupid Lame Ass… Jose did make a life mistake but For you to judge a being by appearance makes you a dumb stupid ignorant stereo idiot. Post your picture so we can judge your looks and classify you as an immigrant from somewhere else… Punk B$%@# Asss He was a citizen.

    1. Vinoman says:

CM, talk about anger issues. Isn’t freedom of speech great!?!? I bet your a real tough guy. Just so you know, I am of Hispanic decent. My father joined the military and fought in Korea. I did my service and fought in Granada, Bierut and did my 12 years in the Military. I did my research and he was anchor baby. Read above and see my feelings on the misuse of the 14th Amendment. Have a glorious day.

  6. JBlevins says:

To Mike, what do you mean by asking RB if he believes Garrido is an American name?
Last time I checked, EVERY NAME in the world can be an American name.
What do you think an American name is?
