Masked Robbers Steal Components From Fremont High-Tech Firm

FREMONT (CBS / BCN) - A group of about 15 armed robbers raided a high-tech company in Fremont, tying up employees and stealing computer components, police said Tuesday.

The suspects took over Unigen Corp., located at 45388 Warm Springs Road, about 8:45 a.m. Sunday, Sgt. Chris Mazzone said.

Armed with rifles and handguns, they tied up the five or six employees who were in the building, Mazzone said.

The suspects, who were all wearing masks and dark clothing, spent about half an hour removing computer components before fleeing in a moving truck, Mazzone said.

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

The employees were not injured, and were able to remove the restraints to call police after the intruders fled, Mazzone said.

Unigen makes computer memory modules, flash memory and wireless communication products.
