Tech Report: Facebook Alters Privacy Settings

(KCBS) – Facebook is once again tweaking its privacy settings as the social networking site is planning to let third-party app developers access the phone numbers and addresses of users.

KCBS and Technology Analyst Larry Magid said this has been in the works for some time, but Facebook was trying to figure out how they could do it in a way users would know in advance exactly what they were signing up for.

KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid:

He said some members of Congress have already expressed concerns that the company might share the information of minors.

But Magid said the main concern he has is the thought of passing on personal information to third parties, as there are hundreds of thousands of developers, some of whom are not reputable.
