'Quakes Sign Ampaipitakwong, Waive Donatelli

SAN JOSE (CBS) -- The San Jose Earthquakes have signed second-round Major League Soccer SuperDraft pick Anthony Ampaipitakwong.

Ampaipitakwong was a two-time Hermann Trophy semifinalist as a junior and senior at the University of Akron. In college, the midfielder recorded 17 goals and 30 assists over four seasons.

Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Earthquakes also announced that the club has waived midfielder Tony Donatelli. The former Montreal Impact player was signed by the Quakes earlier in the preseason.

Donatelli was now eligible for selection in Major League Soccer's waiver draft.
