SAN MATEO COUNTY (CBS 5) — It was a Peninsula attraction that used to draw thousands every year. Loralee Underhill asked this Good Question: What happened to Lombardi Springs on Highway 92?

ANSWER: Caltrans diverted the spring to complete a widening project on Highway 92. The pipe was sealed off in 1997 and never reopened because of traffic concerns and the water also tested positive for E coli bacteria.

I understand the dump and cemetery up the hill fed the spring with contaminated water. Heavy metals, such as lithium, explained some of the ‘special’ ingredients in the wholesome and nutrient-rich water. Geez, remember the traffic crawls and the illegal U-turns? Farewell and Amen.

Lithium a “heavy metal”? It’ll float on water. Do you mean Cadmium perhaps? My grampa is buried in the cemetery. Maybe that’s why the spring always reminded me of him…
