San Jose State Women's Basketball Coach Resigns
SAN JOSE (CBS / AP) ― San Jose State women's basketball coach Pam DeCosta has resigned after four seasons with the Spartans.
The school announced the move Monday.
The Spartans finished this season with a 2-27 record and came in last place in the WAC. They did not qualify for the conference tournament. They finished 13-106 in her four seasons.
The highlight of DeCosta's tenure came when San Jose beat No. 22 Cal 68-66 on Dec. 9, 2009, for its first win over a ranked team in 26 years.
DeCosta had previously been the head coach at Lynn University in Florida for four seasons and an assistant at Kansas and Oklahoma.
Athletic director Tom Bowen said he hoped to have a replacement hired before the women's Final Four in April.
