Nancy Pelosi Hospitalized In Rome

ROME (CBS/AP) -- U.S. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi was hospitalized briefly in Rome with a minor ailment.

The San Francisco lawmaker and former House speaker was not feeling well after several flights in Afghanistan Sunday and a long flight to Italy which arrived early Monday morning, according to a statement issued by spokesman Nadeam Elshami.

Pelosi was advised to visit a clinic and the closest medical facility was a hospital, according to the statement.  The Democratic leader was then said to have resumed her schedule in Italy.

Pelosi was scheduled to hold talks with Italian officials, including the defense minister, but the ANSA news agency said she was briefly hospitalized Monday at Rome's Policlinico and then released.

ANSA said she suffered a minor ailment but did not give any details.

The U.S. Embassy in Rome declined comment.
