Larkspur Ferry Terminal To Become Foodie Destination

LARKSPUR (KCBS) – The Golden Gate Bridge District has approved a pilot program that would bring mobile gourmet food trucks to the Larkspur Ferry Terminal on Friday afternoons.

The Golden Gate Bridge District Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve the program, which starts in May.

KCBS' Mark Seelig Reports:

Board spokeswoman Kellee Hopper said it will provide an excellent food choice for riders and benefits to the District as well.

"We'll get some nominal revenue during the pilot project," said Hopper. "But it will also provide us an opportunity to expose the Larkspur Ferry System to people who may or may not use the ferry on an ongoing basis."

The Golden Gate Bridge District will receive about 15 percent of all proceeds, which is expected to help cover administrative and clean-up costs.

Marin County-based Event Bank will be hosting up to five food trucks on a weekly basis, selling food to both ferry customers and the general public.

Hopper said the program will run through September and if successful, it could be expanded in the future.
