(KCBS) – KCBS Food and Wine Editor Narsai David reviews the newest restaurant from the Lo Coco Family featuring a long list of pizza and calzone.
This beautiful restaurant has a huge center island table – a slab of granite that’s about 5′ wide, 16′ long – this is a nice communal table, big enough to be a dining table.
We started with the Palermitana which had sautéed eggplant, Sicilian casciocavallo cheese, garlic, sweet basil – absolutely delicious!
Under the antipasti, we had the mussels and Manila clams flavored with wine, saffron, herbs, tomato, anise root.
And for dessert we had the affogato which they prepare with chocolate ice cream and a shot of espresso poured on top.
There are so many intriguing dishes at Sportivo restaurant in Berkeley.
