Stanford Student Assaulted Inside Graduate Housing Apartment

STANFORD (CBS SF) -- Stanford Police are looking for a man who broke into a graduate housing apartment on the University's campus Saturday evening and assaulted a woman sleeping inside.

Stanford police said the assault happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Escondido Village on Comstock Circle. A man broke into the apartment and entered the bedroom of the sleeping female victim. When the woman awoke and screamed, the suspect fled the scene. Police described the suspect as a dark-skinned male, possibly black. The man is about 30 years old, and about five-foot-six inches tall. He was wearing blue jeans, and possibly a dark T-shirt.

KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:

Stanford police Sgt. Frank Hom said Sunday that he could not provide any update on the woman's condition, and that police are not sure how the man gained entry to the apartment. Police are also not sure how the man escaped the scene or which direction he fled.

Anyone with information relating to this crime is urged to call the Stanford Department of Public Safety at 650-329-2413, that number also connects to the Palo Alto police department.
