Family Hurt In Suspected DUI North Bay Cliff Plunge

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - A man, a woman, and their 3-year-old child were airlifted to a hospital in Santa Rosa Tuesday night after their car went over the edge of a coastal highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP received a call from the man in the car at around 7:35 p.m. requesting assistance on state Highway 1 near Coleman Valley Road, north of Bodega Bay, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

CHP officers arrived to discover the car had gone off the road and was on the beach, near the ocean.

The man and woman suffered from serious, non life-threatening injuries and the child was not injured, Van Eckhardt said.

All three were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the car was arrested for driving under the influence, Van Eckhardt said.
