Walnut Creek Restaurant Hosts Fundraiser For Injured Giants Fan
WALNUT CREEK (KCBS) -- A fundraiser was held in Walnut Creek for critically injured Giants fan Brian Stow. McCovey's Restaurant set aside 25 percent of everything they earned on Saturday for the Brian Stow Foundation. They will help pay his medical costs.
The overall goal was to raise $20,000 thousand if not more. According to owner Rocky Dudum, it's not just about the food receipts.
"The Giants were good enough to get me some uniforms signed by some players and some balls which I'm going to auction off," said Dudum.
Shazam, the restaurant's general manager, said everyone is touched by the story and that they all want to do their part.

Some customers even altered their plans to make it to the restaurant to support Stow and his family.
"I think it's a tragedy. It should never have happened. I hope they find the guys and he's able to pull through," said one McCovey's patron.
The 42 year-old father of two has been in a medically induced coma ever since he was attacked on opening day in the parking lot of Dodger stadium. Hospital officials say that they are slowly reducing the medication in hopes of bringing him out of the coma, a critical juncture, they say, to Stow's overall recovery.
