Obama Headed To Bay Area Later This Week

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- The White House has announced that President Barack Obama will visit the Bay Area on Wednesday and Thursday.

Mr. Obama will hold a town hall meeting at Facebook Headquarters in Palo Alto on Wednesday afternoon to discuss his budget-deficit reduction plan.

KCBS' Doug Sovern Reports:

The White House said the president wants to speak directly to Americans about his vision for reducing the debt based on the values of "shared responsibility and prosperity."

On Wednesday night, he plans to speak to supporters at a fundraising event at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco.

Mr. Obama will hold a similar town hall event on Thursday afternoon in Reno, Nevada after he departs the Bay Area.

The president's last visit to the Bay Area was in February, when he met with Silicon Valley technology leaders to tout his education plan.
