Teenager Arrested After Waving Assault Rifle In SF Noe Valley

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A teenage boy was arrested after allegedly waving an assault rifle in a street near San Francisco's Noe Valley neighborhood on Monday afternoon, police said.

Police received a call at about 4 p.m. Monday from someone saying a person was waving a rifle at them near the intersection of San Jose Avenue and 30th Street, Officer H. Soulette said.

KCBS' Chris FilippiReports:

Officers responded and chased the suspect, who tossed the gun over a fence and fled on foot before being arrested a block away at San Jose Avenue and Day Street, Soulette said.

The officers had their guns drawn during the chase because they did not know whether the suspect was still armed, Soulette said.

Investigators went back and found the weapon, an assault rifle with a sniper's scope attached to it, according Soulette.

The suspect was identified as a teenage boy, but police were withholding his name because he is a juvenile.
