Bicyclist Found Dead On Trail In East Bay Park

PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- The East Bay Regional Park District police are investigating the death of a bicyclist whose body was discovered face down on a trail in Contra Costa County Friday evening.

Bradley Basham, 58, of Pittsburg, had apparently been riding his bicycle on the Delta DeAnza Trail east from Gladstone, according to the park police, and his body was discovered by another trail user about 6 p.m.

Park police received word of the unknown circumstances of the death from the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

Preliminary reports indicate the victim might have had an accident on his bicycle. However, investigators are coordinating with the coroner's office and the county's community college district police to determine Basham's cause of death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the park police's investigations unit at (510) 690-6549. Anonymous callers may call the park district's confidential tip line at (510) 690-6521.
