Excited San Jose Sharks Fans Gobble Up Tickets

SAN JOSE (KCBS) – Longtime fans of the San Jose Sharks know that the team never seems to do things the easy way. That was exactly the case in the team's first round Stanley Cup Playoff series with the Los Angeles Kings, as the Sharks clinched with an overtime victory Monday night in Los Angeles.

It was the third overtime playoff win for the Sharks in the series.

The team's second round opponent is still uncertain and will depend on the outcome of Tuesday night's game between the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks. A Vancouver win would mean the Sharks would host the Detroit Red Wings in the second round. A Chicago win would mean a rematch from last year's Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Sharks and Blackhawks.

KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:

Despite not knowing who and when the next series will start, fans lined up early Tuesday morning at HP Pavilion for their chance to buy tickets to the Western Conference Semifinals.

Many in line were die-hard fans and said they are excited about the team's chances this year, even though the franchise has faced playoff heartbreak in the past. This is the sixth time in seven seasons San Jose has reached the conference semifinals.

The NHL is expected to release the second round schedule once the remainder of the first round games are completed.
