2 Arrested In Scotts Valley With Stolen Firearm, Other Weapons

SCOTTS VALLEY (CBS SF) -- A man and woman were arrested in Scotts Valley Friday after officers reportedly discovered a stolen firearm along with other weapons, police said.

Officers spotted a vehicle with an expired registration in the parking lot of the Scotts Valley Best Western Motel. The registered owner of the car, Thomas Dewey, 27, was on active parole, police said.

Officers contacted Dewey in a motel room along with 25-year-old Katlyn Moyer.

A search of the room allegedly yielded a loaded firearm that was stolen from Monterey County about 11 years ago.

Officers also allegedly found a large fixed-blade knife in the room and discovered more knives, ammunition and holsters in a search of two vehicles belonging to Dewey, police said.

Dewey was detained for probation violation and Moyer is facing charges of possession of stolen property. Both suspects were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
