Afghan Community In Fremont Reacts To Bin Laden's Death

FREMONT (KCBS) --- The death of Osama bin Laden is welcome news on the streets of Little Kabul in Fremont, one of the largest Afghan communities outside of Afghanistan.

At an Afghan market on Fremont Boulevard, customers were gathered outside smoking and talking about the death of Osama bin Laden. Most agreed it was very good news.

"I am very grateful," one man said. "Thank God he's gone."

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

But one customer at the store, says he now wants to know if the Pakistani government or military has been shielding the terror mastermind.

At the nearby Maiwand Market, one worker said all Muslims should be celebrating bin Laden's death.

"It's good news for all the world, especially for all Muslims," he said. "Osama was not a Muslim. A Muslim would never kill a Muslim."

This man did not want to give his name out of fear for his family still in Afghanistan, where he says terrorists are still powerful.
