Baby Critically Hurt In San Francisco Fire Hydrant Crash
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A female driver and her one-year-old passenger were hospitalized Monday morning after she crashed into a fire hydrant in San Francisco's Mission District, police said.
The woman struck her 1995 Toyota Camry into a hydrant at the intersection of 23rd and Mission Streets at about 4:15 a.m.,San Francisco police said.
The one year old suffered life-threatening injuries, and was taken to a local hospital. The driver was also taken to the hospital, with injuries that were not life threatening, police said.
Two San Francisco Municipal Railway bus lines were rerouted Monday morning because of the crash, a Muni spokesman said.
The outbound 14-Mission and 49-Van Ness-Mission buses were rerouted to South Van Ness Avenue, spokesman Paul Rose said.
Two shuttles were also provided to transport passengers between 14th and Mission Streets and 26th and Mission Streets, he said.
Traffic and Muni service resumed in the area by 8:30 a.m.
