San Francisco Homeless Moms Get Mother’s Day Pampering
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Two dozen homeless moms in San Francisco had a Mother’s Day to remember at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel on Sunday.
Clients of the Hamilton Family Center were set up with fancy new clothing and jewelry.
Davey Gerhard, Director of Development at the Hamilton Family Center, said the moms received professional hairdos before being able to grab some breakfast.
“Hairdos and makeup, we had professional stylists come into the shelter,” he said. “They were getting all dressed up and ready to go so that they could come over here. This is the 17th year Harry Denton has invited us to the Starlight Room.”
KCBS’ Tim Ryan Reports:
Terry Hetrick took picture after picture of her special day.
“We all work really hard as mothers in the shelter. We deserve a lot and this is fantastic,” she said. “This is so beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. We’re really enjoying ourselves and having a great time.”
The Hamilton Family Center took care of the women’s children while they were on their special outing.
The Hamilton Family Center was established in 1985 and has become one of the largest providers of shelter, eviction prevention assistance, rapid re-housing, youth programming and support services to homeless families in San Francisco.
