Young San Francisco Demonstrators March Against Global Warming

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - An estimated 100 environmentally-minded young people marched to San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza on Sunday, calling for an end to global warming.

"And then your work will transform this world, governments will listen to you, we will stop global warming through the power of your lungs," a speaker told the crowd at the Plaza.

KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:

"This event is just, you know, the youth standing up and saying climate change is not about money, it's not about power, it's not about convenience or any short-term interests or anything. It's about our survival," reasoned one teen who identified himself as a 16-year-old from Southern California.

"I want to grow up in a world without hurricanes as big as Katrina as the norm and you know, people die every year from floods and droughts and everything like that, and that is not the future that I want. And that is not the future that I want for my children and for future generations."
