San Carlos Mayor Dies Of Heart Attack

SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) - San Carlos Mayor Omar Ahmad died of a heart attack Tuesday morning, city officials said.

Ahmad, who was elected to the San Carlos City Council in 2007 and selected to serve as mayor in November, was taken to Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City after calling 911 from his home, according to a statement released by Vice Mayor Andy Klein.

Ahmad was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

"Those of us at City Hall who had the opportunity to work with and get to known him are devastated by his loss," San Carlos City Manager Jeff Maltbie said in a statement.
