3-Year-Old South Bay Girl Found Safe, Mom Arrested

CAMPBELL (CBS SF) – Campbell Police have found a young girl who may have suffered severe child abuse at the hands of her mother and her mother's former boyfriend.

Campbell police arrived at a home in the 1300 block of Pollard Road to check on the welfare of 3-year-old  around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers later served a search warrant of the home. Authorities would not say what was inside the home, but did say evidence led them to conclude child abuse was occurring.

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

The girl was found around 8 p.m. Tuesday with her mother, Jane Marin, who was taken into custody at the San Jose shopping center parking lot near Santa Teresa Boulevard and Bernal Road where the pair was located, police said.

The girl was taken to a hospital and, as of Wednesday evening, was in the custody of Child Protective Services, according to authorities.

Police said that Marin would be booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of felony child abuse.

Authorities are still looking for Marin's former boyfriend, George Rodriguez, who is wanted on a $125,000 felony warrant for child abuse charged related to this case, police said.

Police describe Rodriguez as a 35-year-old Hispanic man standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 230 pounds.

Anyone with information about Rodriguez's whereabouts is asked to call the Campbell Police Department at (408) 866-2101.
