Daily Madden: Sharks Face True Must-Win Game

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - John Madden talked about the attitude the Sharks must have heading into game 7 Thursday night against Detroit on his daily chat with the KCBS morning crew.

The Sharks are on the brink of becoming just the fourth team in NHL history to lose a series after a 3-0 series lead.

"You have to look at the last few games, how you won and how you lost and change it," said Madden. "The talk has to be how to get to victory...not how we blew it."

The coach said the players feel all of the pressure created by the media and the finality of the playoff atmosphere. He said losing a series finale is the hardest way to end a series.

"Those are always the toughest losses, because you have to live with that loss the longest," said Madden.

He also weighed in on Tiger Woods' leg injuries that forced him to withdraw after 9 holes Thursday morning at the Players Championship in Florida.

"He was always a player who practiced hard," said Madden. "The injury didn't let him get ready to play. Then he started trying to play anyway, and really wasn't ready."

Madden also said he was said to hear that Alan Fanaca was retiring because he was a tough guard who was one of the coach's favorite players.
