Man Dies After Being Found Hurt On Vallejo Street

VALLEJO (CBS SF) - Vallejo recorded its seventh homicide of the year this weekend when a man died at a hospital after being found wounded in the street.

Louis Renteria, 26, of St. Helena, was found in the 1600 block of Louisiana Street around 2 a.m. Sunday, Vallejo police Sgt. Jeff Bassett said. Renteria was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

There have been four homicides in Vallejo city limits since April 16. Three other killings occurred in the city earlier this year.

Keith Erick Osby Jr., 27, of Fairfield, was found shot to death Friday at the Springbrook Masonic Temple at 101 Temple Way.

Everett Brown, 19, of Vallejo, was found fatally shot April 30 at Taper and Janet streets, and Giovanni Fragozo, 22, of Richmond, was shot and killed April 16 in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store at 1095 Magazine St.

No arrests have been made in any of the homicides.

Two other murders occurred in an unincorporated pocket of Vallejo last Tuesday.

The Solano County Sheriff's Office has identified those victims, who were found dead of gunshot wounds in the first block of Reis Avenue, as Ramone Hatfield, 30, of Los Angeles, and Sean Pierre Riley, 29, of Santa Rosa.

One man was found dead in a parked Ford Taurus and the other in a driveway of a home half a block away. The suspects are still at large.

In addition to Vallejo's seven murders, police are investigating two suspicious deaths in the city.

The partially burned body of 61-year-old Kenneth Beal, of Vallejo, was found at Lake Dalwigk Park on Jan. 31.

Robert Mast, 45, was found dead in the Mare Island Strait near the Vallejo Marina on Feb. 16. He disappeared with his dog on Feb. 5. The dog returned home that evening, still wearing its leash.
