Livermore Police: Apartment Explosion Linked To Illegal Drugs

LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- Livermore police have found evidence that an apartment explosion Saturday evening may be connected to illegal drug activity associated with three identified victims of the explosion, a police lieutenant said.

The three victims of the explosion at 3624 Silver Oaks Way have been identified as Livermore residents Evan D. Aviles, 21, Lexie Miriyah Huston, 22, and San Jose resident Paul Lom, 34, Livermore police Lt. Mike Peretti said.

All three are listed in critical condition, according to the fire department.

Aviles and Huston, his girlfriend, with their friend Lom, were in the main living space of Aviles' apartment where drug activity was found and the explosion appears to have originated, Peretti said. An official cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

Four additional families living in the building have been relocated after an inspector deemed the apartment building uninhabitable as a result of the explosion, Peretti said.

The fire caused about $350,000 in damage to the five unit building, officials said.
