13 Hurt In Vacaville Tour Bus Crash

VACAVILLE (CBS 5) — More than a dozen people were injured Monday when a tour bus veered off Interstate Highway 80 and crashed through 50-60 feet of perimeter fencing on parallel running Lyon Road, south of Cherry Glen Road in Vacaville.

There were 50 people on the bus, including the driver, when the crash occured just before 4:30 p.m.; California Highway Patrol Officer Ralph Caggiano said that 13 were taken to local hospitals by ambulance.

He did not know the extent of the injuries but said none of them were thought to be life-threatening.

The remainder of the passengers were out of the bus and walking around after the accident, Caggiano said.

He indicated that it appeared the bus was exiting the freeway when it went off the road. The CHP was investigating the cause of the crash.
