Injured Giant Posey Leads NL Catchers In All-Star Voting

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) -- Injured catcher Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants is the leading vote-getter among National League catchers in the first balloting figures for the 2011 Major League Baseball All-Star game.

The reigning NL Rookie of the Year got 785,314 votes, but Posey is likely done for the season following a violent collision at home plate last week in a game against the Florida Marlins. He required surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left ankle.

Other Giants who have high vote totals for their positions include Pablo Sandoval, who is third place at third base and Freddy Sanchez who is fifth place for second base. Sandoval was injured last month, but may return to action as soon as next week.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy will be this year's NL team manager since the Giants won the NL pennant and the World Series last year.
