Bayview Children Survive Fall Out Open Window
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Two children survived a fall out of a second story window in San Francisco's Bayview District Tuesday afternoon.
San Francisco Police spokesman Sergeant Michael Andraychak said the five-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl fell from a window in the 2600 block of Newhall Street just before 3:30 p.m. and landed on a cement patio below.
"They were apparently playing on the bed and fell through an open window," said Andraychak.
Paramedics took to the two to a local hospital, but say their injuries are not life-threatening.
Andraychak says a pillow and a blanket were found on the ground along with them. Authorities speculate the bedding must have fallen with them and cushioned their fall.
Police say no one has been arrested, as it appears to have been an accident.
On Monday, two toddlers fell out of an open window in Petaluma. Their injuries were also determined to be non-life-threatening; they landed on a shrubbery.
As we near warmer weather, Andraychak advises parents to be careful that beds, desks, or other furniture that children can climb on is not near open windows.
