Body Found In Leaking Garbage Bag In Sunnyvale Neighborhood

SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) -- An autopsy was conducted Monday on a body of a woman found stuffed inside a large garbage bag that was tossed inside some bushes in a Sunnyvale neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers from the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety found the bag hidden between two bushes next to the sidewalk in the 800 block of Ticonderoga Drive on Sunday morning, Capt. Dave Verbrugge said.

A liquid appearing to be blood was leaking out of the loosely closed bag and when officers peered inside they saw part of the body, he said.

It was hoped that the autopsy Monday at the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office would help to determine the victim's cause of death and possible identity, Verbrugge said. Verbrugge said late Monday that preliminary results identified the victim as a Hispanic adult female.

Anyone with information about the body discovery was asked by authorities to call the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety at (408) 730-7110. Those who wished to remain anonymous could provide information by sending an email to SVTIP@tipnow.org.
