BART Trains Resume Service After Fire Reported

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- BART trains are resuming service through the Transbay Tube Sunday morning after inspectors were unable to find evidence of a fire reported near San Francisco, a spokesman said.

San Francisco Fire Department investigators inspected train tracks heading to and from the East Bay and found no evidence of a fire that was reported by a train operator about 8:45 a.m., BART spokesman Linton Johnson said.

The fire department cleared BART to restart full train service, which was expected at about 10 a.m.

Trains were still 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule, but were expected to be back on time within an hour, Johnson said.
