OAKLAND (CBS SF) — Oakland police said Thursday that a 22-year-old Oakland man has been charged with two counts of murder for the shooting deaths of two men at a restaurant near Jack London Square in April.

Police said Clem Thompkins was arrested in Richmond on Wednesday.

Thompkins is expected to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court on Friday.

Alameda County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Teresa Drenick said that although Thompkins has been charged, the case will not be officially filed in court until Friday.

She declined to comment on the case until it is filed.

Killed in the shooting at Sweet Jimmie’s at 311 Broadway at 12:42 a.m. on April 25 were 27-year-old Williams Jenkins, of Oakland, and 22-year-old Adam Williams, of San Leandro.

Police said they do not believe the two men were the intended targets of the shooting.

Four other people were wounded in the shooting but survived.

Thompkins is also expected to be charged with multiple counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting those four people, authorities said.
