Narsai David Wine Review: Valley of the Moon Winery

(KCBS) - KCBS Food and Wine Editor Narsai David reviews a 2010 Unoaked Chardonnay and a 2008 Sangiovese from Valley of the Moon Winery in Glen Ellen.

2010 Unoaked Chardonnay, Russian River Valley

Pale straw color, bright, fruity aromas of white spring peaches and citrus lead to a big mouthful of fruit. Remember, there is no oak, this is just the honest aroma and flavor of the chardonnay grape. Lots of mineral quality with fine acid to balance it all. Here's a perfect summer wine. Very nice price at $14.00.

2008 Sangiovese, Sonoma County

Medium deep crimson color. Rich, ripe, lush aromas. Ripe red berries and spice come together and roll right onto the palate. A medium bodied wine with just enough soft tannins for a backbone. Here's a fine wine for pizza, for grilled chicken, for the summer. $16.00.
