Woman Gets 16-Year Sentence For Fatal Oakland DUI Crash
OAKLAND (AP) -- A woman has been sentenced to 16 years in prison in a drunken driving crash in Oakland that killed her pregnant domestic partner and three other people, including twin 3-year-old boys.
An Alameda County judge issued the sentence against 28-year-old Tiffany Reynolds on Friday. Reynolds pleaded guilty in April to four counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in the May 25, 2009 crash.
Authorities say Reynolds had a blood-alcohol level of 0.21 percent, nearly three times the legal limit, when she hit a concrete support beam while driving at speeds of up to 90 mph on Interstate 880.
Her domestic partner, 23-year-old Sara Terra, and brother-in-law, 20-year-old David Terra, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sara Terra's twin three-year-old sons, Jessie Woodson and Jason Woodson, also died. Reynolds suffered a broken neck and lacerated liver.
