Auto Test: 2011 Nissan Murano
(KCBS) - For those who like the height and bulk of an SUV, Nissan offers a relatively short version--the Murano FWD. It's a handy size for those who park in passenger car spaces, but of course it lacks the interior space of SUVs with 3 rows of seats. What it does offer is great comfort, front and back, a good driving position, and a nice engine-transmission combination with a 260 horsepower 3.5 liter V6, coupled to one of the best CVTs---a great transmission for climbing our bay area hills.
Mileage is average--18 around town, in the low to middle 20s on the road. Ride and handling are good, and the Murano is reasonably quiet at highway speeds.
The car does have a tendency to leap from a stop unless the throttle is applied gently. Nissan apparently wants us to know that Murano owners should be impressed.
OK, we get it.
