SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) – These creatures have taken up residence in San Francisco’s largest expanse of open space. Mary Manzer asked this Good Question: What’s being done about all the gophers popping up in Golden Gate Park?

ANSWER: Dennis Kern of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission said all of city’s park gardeners are trained in trapping gophers. Kern said the gophers cause damage to sports fields and picnic areas around the park and have to be eliminated. The gardeners do not use poison in the park because it can be toxic to pets and people.
