SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) – Officers discovered the body of an Arizona man in a culvert behind a restaurant in Santa Rosa on Wednesday afternoon, police said Thursday.
Police received reports from a woman and her boyfriend around 12:45 p.m. that led them to the body of Raymond Fikes, a 51-year-old man from Tucson, Ariz., behind The Ticket sports bar at 3381 Cleveland Ave.
Fikes’ dog and personal items were found nearby, and he appeared to have died within an hour of the officers’ arrival, police said. The death appeared to be drug or alcohol related.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
After talking to local residents and merchants, officers discovered that the couple who called police had been seen with Fikes shortly before his body was discovered, according to police.
Police Detective Andrew Riley said Thursday morning the couple was interviewed and released. The couple told police they met Fikes for the first time Wednesday, he said.
Foul play is not suspected.
Anyone with information about the death is asked to call police at (707) 543-3590.
